Wallabies Rugby Team Hooker’s DWI

Tolu Latu is a hooker on the Wallabies rugby team.  Earlier this year,  he was found intoxicated and unconscious behind the wheel of a automobile in drive.

People who saw his condition jumped into his car, slammed on the brakes and put the car in park.

Latu was convicted of drunk driving, fined $1,300.00, and lost his license to drive for three months.

Latu has a breath alcohol level of 0.135 when tested one hour after he fell asleep while waiting for a light to change to green near the Rugby Australia headquarters.

Latu told police that he had five schooners of beer.  Paramedics were summonsed to awaken Latu.

Latu was suspended from play and initially dropped from the Wallabies training camp.  The Rugby Union agreed to allow him to return in ligh to his entry into a drink driving education program.

“Everyone at NSW Rugby Union is extremely disappointed with Tolu’s actions but it’s pleasing to see he’s taking steps to address this behaviour through education and counselling,” NSWRU chief executive Andrew Hore said in a statement on Friday.
