Lawmaker Gets Aggravated DUI:  Tom Taylor is a 54 year old Georgia State Representative (R-Dunwoody) who was stopped on April 7, 2016 for driving 72 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone.  Although Representative Taylor claimed that he had not had any alcoholic beverages to drink, the police report indicated that he possessed “an overwhelming odor of alcohol”, “was very red and eyes were bloodshot”.  The police conducted a DUI Investigation that was destined to result in Representative Taylor’s arrest no matter how well he did not the so called tests.  Taylor wisely refused to participate in the rigged game that roadside gymnastics represent.  #LawMakerGetsAggravatedDUI

Lawmaker Gets Aggravated DUI: The police arrested Taylor for possession of an open container, speeding and driving while intoxicated with four children in the vehicle.  Taylor was not charged for the firearm he had holstered to his waist.  Taylor was quoted as saying:  “I profoundly regret this serious mistake. . .There’s no one to blame but me, and I greatly appreciate the professionalism of the officers involved. This was my first run-in with the law in my life, and it will also be my last.”  #LawMakerGetsAggravatedDUI

Clayton Police Department said in their incident report that Taylor, 54, was stopped on April 7 for driving 72 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone. Taylor denied he had been drinking despite “an overwhelming odor of alcohol” and “was very red and eyes were bloodshot,” the police report read. During a search of the car police found an empty bottle that smelled of alcohol. #LawMakerGetsAggravatedDUI

Lawmaker Gets Aggravated DUI: Police reported finding an empty alcoholic beverage container in the vehicle.  Taylor agreed to submit to the breath test machine which came back with a breath alcohol content of 0.225 grams/210L of breath.  Police have indicated that Representative Taylor may not be facing child endangerment charges since the four children were all over the age of 14 years.  Taylor was not charged with any offenses due to the pistol on his hip since Georgia statutes only make it illegal to fire a weapon while you are intoxicated; you can possess one when you are drunk.  The speeding and open possession charges do not carry possible incarceration.  #LawMakerGetsAggravatedDUI

Lawmaker Gets Aggravated DUI: Taylor is the chair for the joint committee that oversees MARTA, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.  Taylor was elected in 2010 and faces another election in November, 2016.
